Goals and Vision of the Program
This program is offered under the written consent of the Minister of Advanced Education effective November 12, 2004, having undergone a quality assessment process and been found to meet the criteria established by the Minister. Nevertheless, prospective students are responsible for satisfying themselves that the program and the degree will be appropriate to their needs (for example, acceptable to potential employers, professional licensing bodies, or other educational institutions).
The applied BBA degree meets or exceeds the standard for an undergraduate degree in business. The program is designed for students choosing a rigorous, technically based business degree comparable in content to other bachelor degrees in Canada. The program is designed to produce well-educated and adaptable graduates with appropriate professional skills to meet the existing needs and demands of business and related professions.
The emphasis is on applied theory resulting in a close link between the latest in research and current industry requirements.
The BBA degree program is a 120-credit, four-year degree program. However, the scheduling of courses is such that it is possible to complete the degree in three years and in possibly even less time. The BBA program provides students with the opportunity to launch their career with a highly respected business degree.
The BBA program offers full coverage in the functional areas of business such as accounting, finance, production, marketing, industrial relations, law and human resource management. Students become job ready and better prepared academically by taking an additional 21 upper-level credit hours in one of two concentrations: marketing or human resources.
