The following are comments made by graduates regarding their experience at Sprott-Shaw Community College:

Duniya, Practical Nursing Grad

"Sprott-Shaw Community College has been the most interesting and unique adventure of my life. With the help of my Advisor, I embarked on an unknown yet exciting journey to discover what was possible and finally achieve my dream of becoming a Nurse. With the guidance of my supportive instructors, I successfully completed the Practical Nursing Program at Sprott-Shaw with honours. I now have a permanent, full-time position as an LPN at a care facility, and I am thoroughly enjoying my new career. Thanks Sprott-Shaw for making my dreams come true!"

Elden, Pharmacy Technician Grad

"I am proud to be a graduate of the Pharmacy Technician diploma program at Sprott-Shaw Community College. The staff, instructors and my Advisor were very helpful and friendly, and offered continuous support and encouragement. Now I am happy and very fortunate to be working for Howe Street Pharmacy. I enjoyed my training and find that the skills that I have acquired are very useful. Sprott-Shaw is definitely a great place to start if you are looking for a rewarding career."

Kelly, Administrative Assistant/Medical Office Assistant Grad

"I had been working at jobs that could only offer part-time hours and I was not feeling challenged. I wanted a job with stability, regular hours and interaction with people. I decided to get some specialized training in a field I would enjoy. I chose the Administrative Assistant program specializing in Medical Office Procedures. Now, not even a year later, I'm working at a Physiotherapy Clinic full-time. My job is challenging, fulfilling, and financially secure. Sprott-Shaw has helped me find a career without spending a lot of time in school, and has prepared me with the skills needed in today's workplace."

Kelly

Kristen, Tourism/Hospitality Management Grad

"I am a graduate of Sprott-Shaw's Tourism/Hospitality Management program. At school, my instructors were very helpful and resourceful. After graduation for the first four months I found myself working as a font desk clerk. Recently I got promoted to a Sales Assistant and Suite Coordinator for the San Diego Marriott Del Mar. I enjoyed the training and would highly recommend the Sprott-Shaw Community College tourism program to anyone who is interested in pursuing a career in this field."

Kristen

Shawna, Tourism/Hospitality Management Grad

"I think I was the most surprised when I graduated from the Tourism/Hospitality Management diploma program, as it seemed so out of reach a year ago. I wanted a career, I wanted to go somewhere, and Sprott-Shaw Community College was there to guide me. The instructors had hands-on industry experience and that means more to me than someone who is just reading out of a textbook. The tourism class did not seem like a class at all as our group really enjoyed what we were doing and had fun. After graduating, I have found that I am getting what I want out of life, working full-time and really enjoying my new career."

Shawna

Lois, Business Management Grad

"I am an honours graduate of Sprott-Shaw Community College in International Trade Management/Business Management. Two weeks after graduation I was hired at Bayshore Home Support as a Client Service Coordinator, and I am now working as a Payroll Coordinator. Sprott-Shaw provided me with the understanding of a business environment as well the necessary tools and guidance for my chosen career path."

Lois

Anna, Resident Care Attendant Grad

Anna is living proof that commitment equals success. Anna hails from Czechoslovakia and with English as her second language committed herself to doing whatever it took to achieve her goal. "It was a tough program but I am so happy with my new career and the decision I made. I really enjoy the residents. They are so appreciative, they are always thanking you. They need you and it is so rewarding when you can give them the help they need."

Anna

Jayson, Resident Care Attendant Grad

Jayson is happy with the decision he made to pursue training as a Resident Care Attendant. This is definitely a field where there is a need for well-trained males. "I will have an advantage as there are very few guys in this field." Jayson shared that he learned a lot from his instructor: "Mary is a good teacher to learn from, she definitely pushes you to succeed." He pictures himself gaining some experience as a RCA then bridging into the Licensed Practical Nurse program in the future. His advice for others considering training as a Resident Care Attendant? "Make sure you are focused, because if you lose your focus you may not survive!"

Jayson

Trish, Legal Administrative Diploma

"I cannot even begin to tell you how thankful I am of my experience at Sprott-Shaw Community College — I really loved the teachers, it is such a great atmosphere!"

Trish

Jeff, Residential Construction Framing Technician

"I am a recent grad of the RCFT program at Sprott-Shaw Community College in Victoria. I entered the program without any knowledge of construction, one of my concerns was if I would be able to do this in 6 months, but they had a course outline that was easy to follow and an instructor with a wealth of knowledge. Upon graduation, the Admissions Advisor had contractors waiting to hire me. I now work and apprentice under ICC Construction in Victoria. My training through Sprott-Shaw has enabled me to take on a leadership role and I'm now training general labourers and passing on my knowledge that I've gained through this program. Thank you Sprott-Shaw Community College. If you're thinking about a career in Trades, I would personally recommend this program."

Niki, Tourism & Hospitality Grad

"Just over a year ago, I realized that I was unsatisfied with the progression of my career. Knowing that I had a background in the hospitality industry, I decided to put a professional edge on my work experience. The choice was easy Sprott-Shaw Community College. They offered a 1-year Tourism Hospitality Management Program that would give me all that I needed to give me that extra boost. I have now just graduated with honours, and within a week, I have had multiple job offers to work at resorts throughout BC and Alberta. I was able to actually choose where I would like to work. I chose The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise to work as a Royal Service Agent. This is an exciting opportunity as the availability for advancement lies around every corner. I leave to start my new career in a week and I owe it all to my instructors and the education I received through Sprott-Shaw Community College."

Habiba is Ready to Make a Difference!

“Before I began taking my courses, I honestly felt that getting back into school would be nearly impossible for me.  English being my second language and not being back in school for years made the prospect of going back thoroughly intimidating and left me feeling skeptical about how I would manage to pass these courses. Those first few months had felt excruciatingly hard, nights were sleepless and I felt as though – no, this wasn’t for me.  Language difficulties – in particular – were holding me back.  At first I struggled to understand what was being said, never mind being able to understand the content.  There had been points where I had considered quitting because the hurdles were too big to overcome, but gradually I felt myself getting back into what it felt like to be at school.  I continued to push myself harder, and through that perseverance and determination, I began to succeed.  Things got easier and my grades were increasing.  The months flew past so quickly and I was graduating before I knew it! After completing my schooling, doors were opened and already I was being given opportunity after opportunity to start a career – opportunities available because of the education and tools I was given to succeed.  I must thank my Admissions Advisor, Joe, and Sprott-Shaw Community College for giving me a renewed hope, a chance to better my career, and for giving me the strength to succeed. Now I’m working as an RCA – a job that I love.  Anyone, of any age can pursue a career the feel truly passionate about and I myself am an example of that.  I hope others can achieve their dreams as I have through Sprott-Shaw.  Congratulations Class of ’08. Believe that it is possible.” -Habiba M.
