What We Do
We help plan for programs and curriculums suitable for international students, selecting the best study plan for students who wish to pursue further education, seek employment or apply for immigration in Canada.
Before you can apply to enter Canada as an international student you must show proof that you have been accepted by Sprott Shaw. If you are not a permanent resident or citizen of Canada and you plan to study in Canada for more than six months, you will need a study permit. Visit www.cic.gc.ca for more information.
Our professionally trained international advisors are standing by to advise students on visa applications, visa transfers, visa extensions, and more. (Study Permit, Co-op Work Permit, Off-Campus Work Permit, Post-Graduation Work Permit, Visitors Visa etc.)
Our student service centre offer airport pickup for international students. A student services representative will welcome you at the airport and escort you to your host family. To use this service, simply send your flight information at least two weeks prior to arrival in Canada.
Canadians are famous for their kindness and welcoming attitude and this is exactly what students will receive when they are greeted by the members of their home stay family. We run a series of background and reference checks for host families in our database to ensure a perfect match between you and your family.
Students are required to submit home-stay application form and arrangement fee at least two weeks prior to arriving Canada. This will allow sufficient time for matching students and their homestay family and allow us to send student all of their homestay information ahead of time.
All students are required to have medical insurance for the duration of their studies at Sprott Shaw. International Students must obtain Private Medical Insurance for at least your first three months in BC before receiving BC provincial Medical Services Plan (MSP) coverage. We will help students submit the MSP application shortly after arrival in BC ($57 Per Month).
With about 6000 graduates entering the job market every year, Sprott Shaw Career Planning and Management help students to make a better and smoother transition into the workforce. All Sprott Shaw campuses have professional GSR crew to assist students with resume building, interview skills training and career exploring.
Sprott Shaw offers a wide range of activities during and after class that are fun, interesting, and most of all educational experience for international students. Our teachers and staff encourage students to participate in various conversation and communicative activities, celebrations of international and Canadian holidays, student clubs, sport teams, alumni association, and tutoring/exchange programs.
Students are also encouraged to experience the wonderfully multi-cultural environment in Vancouver, the natural beauty and history of Victoria, the great outdoors and friendly people of Kamloops, and all of the great adventures throughout Canada.
