Sprott Shaw College – Richmond is a diverse campus, centrally located in the heart of the city. Easy to access, the campus is across the street from the Aberdeen Skytrain Station (on the Canada Line). This convenient location also means that there are a variety of shopping and restaurant options nearby.
Class sizes at Sprott Shaw College – Richmond are small, often resulting in some fantastic 1 on 1 time with instructors. Monthly start dates are available in the following programs:
• Early Childhood Education Basic — a certificate ECE program. Upon graduation, students apply for licensing and can find work in a variety of childcare settings.
• ECE Post-Basic — classes at the Richmond campus happen in the evening. The class is comprised of students who have completed the ECE Basic certificate, are working in daycare settings, and want to upgrade their skills and knowledge in the infant/toddler and children with exceptionalities specialties.
• Veterinary Office Assistant — VOA isn’t offered often at post-secondary institutions, but Sprott Shaw College – Richmond currently has a class you can join. Students in this program have the opportunity to visit local veterinary offices and pet shops on field trips to gain valuable knowledge and experience.
• Business programs offered in Richmond are Business Administration Management and Business Administration Principles. Career opportunities include a variety of office and management positions.
As BC’s fourth largest city, Richmond offers much diversity in restaurants, shopping, and sightseeing. If you’re thinking about attending the Richmond campus, remember to take some study breaks to check out local sites, such as the night market, the Village of Steveston, the Golden Village, the Gulf of Georgia Cannery, the International Buddhist Temple, and the Richmond Olympic Oval, as well as a huge variety of Asian dining options. Richmond is also home to an assortment of parks and beaches, including Iona Beach Regional Park, Garry Point Park, and Richmond Nature Park.
Richmond campus recently played host to the Richmond Chamber of Commerce’s ‘Business After Hours’ event. Prominent local employers and agencies visited the campus for a tour, meet and greet with staff and students, and refreshments. This was a great opportunity for the campus to promote its programs as well as develop new relationships for practicum opportunities, including with local daycares and medical offices.
