Sprott Shaw College has developed it’s own online learning system called “Blended Learning”. Blended Learning combines the benefits of online learning with the important aspects of in-class practice and participation. We currently offer our Health Care Assistant program with Blended Learning.
This component is delivered as a live online classroom. It uses WEB Ex virtual classroom, which is a purpose built on line classroom that allows an instructor to teach in the same way they would face to face.
Using our Moodle platform, this component allows students to access course content and complete exercises on their own time from home.
This will be skills lab practice as well as lecture review, quizzes, exams and presentations. It will take place once a week or bi-monthly depending on location. Student will travel to the regional campus or to a long term care facility partner depending on local enrolment.
Students will do their clinical practice either in their home community where feasible or in the community of their regional campus. The schedule for this component is decided by the host facility.
