The Industrial Design with Co-op program prepares the students for employment in product design through a combination of theory, hands-on learning and work experience.
The Industrial Design Program provides a strong knowledge and skills foundation to enable graduates to enter this diverse industry at entry-level. This intensive program teaches students the fundamentals of drafting and design, materials, and manufacturing. Students are also exposed to teachings in photography, branding, and business principles such as cost and profitability, marketing and documentation.
This is an extremely diverse field with Career opportunities in all types of product design including: furniture, lighting, lifestyles, games, toys and many others, In addition to classroom teachings, students will need to attend Workshop to become familiar with hand and power precision tools to produce prototypes and model making.
This program also includes a professional work experience placement and the production of a professional portfolio.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to demonstrate:
- Understanding the design and documentation process, critical thinking and solutions in relation to the building systems and cost disciplines, from creativity to reality
- Ability to develop and master the necessary skills in freehand and digital drawings, visual presentation techniques and communication skills that are the essential tools needed
- Application of all learned knowledge: for a balanced and integrated design to the building system.
