Situated in the heart of Vancouver, our Downtown Vancouver college campus is located at the corner of Pender and Howe. Also known as Sprott Shaw Pender, our Downtown college’s central location and proximity to restaurants, coffee shops, shopping centres, bus stops, and SkyTrain stations make it the perfect location to start your studies.

Sprott Shaw College in Downtown Vancouver takes great pride in its dedicated instructors and accelerated educational programs that help our students enter the workforce quickly. Meet Our Downtown Vancouver Instructors 

Brenda R – Post-Graduate Certificate in Nursing (PGCN)

I began my nursing career in 1981 when I became a nurse at Vancouver General Hospital. Over the years, I have been a clinician, teacher, front-line worker, and even ran my own private practice. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master’s in Counselling, and am a Registered Nurse (RN).

Julie G – Practical Nursing (PN)

Over the course of my career, I have several years of nursing and nursing education experience in Alberta and BC. My teaching experience includes the BScN program at a university, Royal Canadian Institute of Technology, and teaching and creating curriculum for Internationally Educated Nurses Program. My nursing practice includes acute care (ICU, burn unit), maternity, medical/surgical, and international public health. My academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Nursing, and being a Registered Nurse (RN).

Ashok B – Business

I have a Master’s in Business Management and over 36 years of international experience working with Mazda, Whirlpool, Hallmark, and other companies across 19 countries. I am a member of the Surrey Board of Trades and sit on the International Trade and Education committees. My teaching experience includes being a visiting lecturer at various colleges and universities across Canada.

Frédérique B – Practical Nursing (PN)

I have been in the nursing field since 2005, mostly in acute care, and have been instructing in classroom, lab and clinical settings since 2015. I am also part of the PN curriculum team. I have my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and received my licensed practical nurse (LPN).

Jeffrey S – Hospitality & Tourism

I hold my Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History, Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management, and my Provincial Instructor Diploma. I have 18 years of student-focused teaching and learning in several post-secondary private and public institutions, 25 years of hospitality experience in hotels across the United States and Canada, and 7 years of senior management experience with the Alma Mater Society at a local university.

Kristel P – Practical Nursing (PN)

In 2009, I completed my licensed practical nursing (LPN) program and graduated from Sprott Shaw as the valedictorian. After this, I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and have worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) at Fraser Health and Vancouver Coastal. With 10 years of nursing experience, I decided to pursue my passion for teaching and came back to Sprott Shaw to teach.

Tena G – Practical Nursing (PN)

I graduated from the Registered Nurse (RN) program in Alberta and have over 25 years of experience in healthcare. Over the course of my career, I have held a variety of nursing positions in both the acute hospital and long-term care settings as a staff nurse, patient care coordinator, patient services manager, accreditation coordinator, and director of care. I am currently the Practical Nursing Coordinator at Sprott Shaw.

Irrin J – Strategies for Student Success (SSS)

I have a Bachelor’s in Psychology, Master’s in Social Work, and Master’s in Psychotherapy and Counseling. Before moving to Canada, I was a school counsellor for over 4 years in Dubai and continue to offer that support to students at Sprott Shaw.
