Paralegals carry an important administrative role in the practice of criminal law. This course is a comprehensive exploration of the Canadian criminal justice system and the foundational principles of criminal law. In this course, you will study the law and administrative procedures
relating to criminal law matters.
This course delves into the interpretation and application of the Criminal Code of Canada, along with relevant case law, statutes, and procedural rules. Students will develop a deep understanding of substantive criminal offences, procedural requirements, evidentiary rules, and the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders within the criminal justice system. You will complete a comprehensive criminal file that includes preparing retainer and pre-trial documents.
