  • This course begins with an overview of the aging process, focusing on how it affects individuals with chronic illnesses and developmental disabilities. Students will explore the biological, psychological, and social aspects of aging in this population, including how aging impacts chronic health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and respiratory disorders, as well as developmental disabilities like intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and physical impairments.
  • The course delves into the complexities of managing multiple health conditions and developmental needs simultaneously. It covers the challenges of coordinating care among various healthcare providers and support services, and the importance of developing integrated care plans that address both medical and non-medical needs.
