This course challenges students to consider the impact of globalization, migration, and social change on families, as well as the intersection of culture, identity, and family life. Through a combination of theoretical perspectives and empirical research, students will gain a deep understanding of how families function within various cultural frameworks. The course will cover topics such as the role of tradition and modernity in shaping family practices, the influence of religion and spirituality on family values, and the ways in which cultural norms dictate gender roles within the family.
  • Additionally, students will explore contemporary issues facing families today, including the effects of economic shifts, technological advancements, and policy changes on family life.
