  • This course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of employment and labour law in British Columbia, focusing on practical applications for paralegals. Students will gain valuable insights into current legal frameworks, emerging trends, and effective strategies for handling employment-related cases.
  • Students will examine relevant statutes, regulations and case law to develop an understanding of the rights and responsibilities of both employers and employees in the workplace.
  • Students will also explore the relationship between employer and employee including hiring, termination, workplace discrimination, the role of the employee’s representative in negotiations, dispute resolutions and collective bargaining. Finally, students will consider the practical aspects of the employment relationship including wages, benefits, and statutory deductions.
