  • This course is designed to help students learn about the principles and practices of insurance law that relate to the role of paralegals in British Columbia. Students will learn about the nature of the contract of insurance and peculiarities in that type of contract.
  • Special emphasis will be given to the rights, responsibilities, and obligations of insurance companies, policyholders, and third parties in relation to insurance contracts. Students will become familiar with terminology, jargon, and actual cases. Students will develop an understanding based on specific reference to ICBC cases and cases covering Life and Property insurance. Students will also learn about reinsurance and risk management.
