Trevor’s inspiration to join our Education Assistant program came from his experiences working alongside education assistants and teachers in the Okanagan. “It seemed like a really cool way to give back to the community and help people,” he shared. The Education Assistant program has offered him hands-on learning through creative projects like mask-making, board game design, and even writing a children’s book.
His book, aimed at young readers around six to seven years old, tells the story of Gus, a silly goose who learns about friendship, responsibility, and communication after an unexpected adventure with the moon. What began as a fun assignment quickly became a passion project. Encouraged by his instructor’s feedback, Trevor self-published the book through Amazon.
Reflecting on the program, Trevor says, “You’re really going to learn a lot about yourself and how you can be of an optimal benefit to others in your community.” His goal after graduation? To work as an education assistant in the Okanagan and make a meaningful impact every day.
