3 Ways to Safely Celebrate the Holidays During COVID-19

December is a month filled with hope, love, joy, and kindness. For many of us, the holidays are a magical time of the year and something we look forward to every year. All of the lights, Christmas carols, feasts, decorations, and celebrations make us all feel warm inside.

While this year’s holiday season may be looking a little bit differently than normal, that doesn’t mean you can’t safely celebrate and have fun with your loved ones. Below are some fun ways that you can still celebrate the season.

1. Visit a Christmas Tree Farm

Whether it’s just you and your significant other, or with the kids, visiting an outdoor Christmas tree farm is a fun and exciting activity to do. Going to a Christmas tree farm is a relatively safe activity as it’s outdoors and allows you to properly maintain a safe distance from other parties at the farm.

Plus, once you’ve picked out your tree and taken it home, you can decorate it together and spend more quality time with your loved ones.

2. Take a Stroll Around the Neighbourhood

Since the start of the pandemic, finding the motivation to exercise daily has been even more difficult for many people, but this holiday season is the perfect time to take a stroll around your neighbourhood, breathe in some fresh air, and burn off some extra calories.

Plus, if your neighbourhood likes to go all out with their Christmas decorations, a walk is the perfect opportunity to enjoy the sights and bright lights of the festive season. Even if your neighbourhood isn’t all decked out in Christmas decorations, the fresh air and walk are still good for your body and a chance for you to break out of your routine.

3. Christmas Movie Marathon

If all else fails, host a Netflix party featuring some of your favourite Christmas and holiday movies. If you’re going to watch with people who you live with, you can watch in-person together. If your party is going to be online, watch together using the Netflix Party web application so you can watch simultaneously.

Regardless of what you do this holiday season, don’t forget to stay safe and take precautions by wearing a mask, keeping your distance, and washing your hands. Learn more about how you can stay safe during this time here.
