Have you seen the Sprott Shaw Mural at your local campus?
In case you
haven’t noticed yet, our campuses are brightening their walls with a new mural!
(Plus, it’s brimming with feature designs so you can even play I Spy with it and search for a bell, laptop,
or stethoscope!)
The Sprott Shaw Mural: From Conception to Creation
At a quick
glance, the entirety of the Sprott Shaw Mural – from the colours, to the
design, to the distinct details – all encompass what Sprott Shaw College is
about. As a singular art piece, the mural features and represents all of the
elements that constitute what it means to be part of the Sprott Shaw family.
In the mural,
you can find references to Sprott Shaw elements like ringing the bell, the
practical nursing and early childhood education programs, small class sizes,
lifetime job placement assistance, course refreshers, and much, much more! How many things can you spot?
When tasked with the project, Marco Vinicio, immediately knew what he wanted to create and bring to life. When conceptualizing the mural, he aspired to spawn a concept that, at a wide glance, could tell the deep-rooted history and story of Sprott Shaw – and that included everything from the inception in 1903, to the 130+ programs offered, to the distinct Sprott Shaw Advantages, and more. In addition to the history and story, Marco wanted to also incorporate intricate features that would draw attention to and reflect on Sprott Shaw’s commitment to both its students and the community. With an understanding of the commitment to hands-on education Sprott Shaw fosters, Marco introduced an artistic aspect to that ideology by executing the project with hand-drawn characteristics.

Make sure you stop by your local campus to snap a
#instaworthy picture with the one and only Sprott Shaw Mural. (Pssst, the mural
is also up at the Commercial-Broadway SkyTrain Station if you want to see a really, really big version for the ‘gram).
