Sprott Shaw College is proud to announce our new membership in the Canadian Payroll Association. The future job prospects for Payroll Administrators remain at “above average” with projected new jobs and openings due to retirements (between 2011 and 2015) remaining high.
Entry-level positions often provide considerable potential for advancement. Industry sources indicate that self-managed individuals with strong initiative who are willing to continuously learn new skills and upgrade old ones are the most likely candidates for promotion.
Payroll Administrators are specifically concerned with employee pay and benefits. They maintain employee records (for example, attendance and overtime) and use the records to calculate pay and benefit entitlements. They also prepare and check statements of earnings and provide information to employees on payroll matters, benefit plans and collective agreement terms.
