Penticton is a picturesque place with a small-town feel. This beautiful city is nestled between two world-famous lakes, surrounded by hills and nature. The temperature is ideal for those who are not accustomed to the cold because there are hot summers and mild winters.
You could spend the summer at the beach, floating down the river channel or exploring the hills and vineyards. In the winter you could take a short 30-minute drive to Apex Ski Resort for some skiing and snowboarding. Also, there are tons of events that occur yearly in the city including the International Children’s Festival, Peach Fest, Iron Man, Octoberfest, and many other renowned local events.
The Sprott-Shaw Community College campus is located in the heart of Penticton on Skaha Lake Road, which is easily accessed from Summerland, the Osoyoos region, and Keremeos. There is access to buses and if you drive you can rest assured that there is plenty of free parking available. There are many local and chain restaurants to get your lunch, as well as several places to shop.
So why pick the Penticton campus? Well for starters there are our dedicated and qualified instructors and the fact that our educational standards surpass industry expectations. We have small classes that encourage communication and interaction between students and instructors. Also, there is the lifetime refresher program available to all of our graduates.
Our Practical Nursing program has established a large interest within the local and surrounding communities. Some of our graduates have even been offered positions before they have completed their program.
Our Health Care Assistant (HCA) program offers monthly intakes so that you can start your studies when you want to and then begin working quickly. If you are from the Oliver or Osoyoos region, you may be interested in the HCA satellite class offered in conjunction with Mariposa Gardens. This way you can go to school and train on-site in your own community.
We even offer an Early Childhood Education program, which is taught by Brenda Barber. She is a highly respected author and instructor in the field of education, specializing in early childhood and developmental education. Our students have been hired by numerous local businesses and agencies such as: Interior Health, Summerland Senior’s Village, Portage Addiction Centre, and many more.
Consider getting the training you want to start your career while enjoying all that Penticton has to offer you!
