Meet Our 2024 Fraser Valley & Surrey Valedictorian Graduates
We are proud to introduce our 2024 Fraser Valley valedictorian graduates from our Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Maple Ridge, and Surrey campuses. It took hard work and dedication for each of our valedictorians to excel in their respective programs and we are proud to have them represent Sprott Shaw College as they embark on their new careers. Abbotsford Valedictorian: Milonie Francis – Education Assistant
Milonie Francis, our valedictorian representing the Abbotsford campus, spoke about her experience at Sprott Shaw College, the friends she made during her program, and the perseverance that led her to succeed in her program.
“Throughout my journey here at Sprott Shaw, I have learned more about myself as an individual, and as a person. I have made some great memories, and have also made some amazing friends… Don’t be afraid to follow your dreams and give your all.
Ridhima Sarna, our valedictorian representing the Chilliwack campus, spoke about why she chose to become an Education Assistant, thanked her teachers and loved ones, and congratulated her classmates on their success.
“As we stand on the threshold of a new chapter in our lives, let us carry with us the lessons we have learned and the values we hold dear… As we step into the future, let us do so with courage, compassion, and a commitment to making a difference in the world.”
Maple Ridge Valedictorian: Cynthia Fernando – Early Childhood Education
Cynthia Fernando, our valedictorian representing the Maple Ridge campus, thanked the campus staff and instructors for their support, spoke about what she learned during her program, and thanked her family for their encouragement.
“We have laughed, we have cried, and we have grown in ways we never thought possible…Congratulations, to the entire Class of 2024. Our adventure is just beginning.
Surrey Valedictorian: Kyle Mercer – Community Support Worker – Social Services
Kyle Mercer, our valedictorian representing the Surrey campus, spoke about what being a valedictorian meant to him, thanked the staff for their support, and finished his speech off with a quote by Mark Twain.
“Some would say that being the Valedictorian is an opportunity to stand up and be recognized for all my hard work. This is simply not true, because to me, the real honor is that I have the privilege to admire all of you. I get to look upon you, your families, your loved ones, and your biggest supporters and see so many faces filled with love and pride. Pride in all the work we put in to make today happen and the sacrifices our loved ones made to see us achieve this goal.”
