I was working in the food service industry.
Why did you choose Sprott Shaw College?
My friend worked in the admission office at the College and recommended this program as it had government support.
How was the admissions process?
The staff helped me well with detailed, step-by-step guidelines that I should follow, it was a quick and smooth process.
What program did you choose and why?
I choose Early Childhood Education (Basic) because I used to work as a teacher back in my country and I like to work and connect with children. I also knew that it is a high-demanding job so I thought I could get a job faster anywhere in Canada.
What was the environment like during your time at Sprott Shaw College?
My course was online-delivered and my instructor Sarah Giraud helped all the students in my class with any concerns about distance learning methods.
Where was your practicum or co-op and how was it?
I worked at two different childcare centers. One was Kids & Company in Uptown, where I gained experienced working for a big company branch. The other one was Maple Tree Children’s Centre, where I enjoyed a small setting with 8 children and 1 ECE, allowing me me to connect with children and my host ECE.
If you could give advice to someone coming to Sprott Shaw, what would you say?
The college instructors are so proactive and passionate not only in teaching and sharing information with students but also in helping and supporting each individually. If you are ready to move forward, you will not regret you have chosen to study at Sprott Shaw College.
