When Surinder Sandal first came to the East Vancouver campus in January this year, she was very timid and spoke very little English.
Surinder decided to enroll in the Health Care Assistant program, to not only earn a living wage and contribute to the family income, but to also help other people. Surinder is caring, patient, respectful, friendly, and a good listener.
As a student, Surinder is very hardworking and conscientious. With these qualities, she is able to persevere, meet the challenges of the program, complete her courses with outstanding grades, and graduate from the Health Care Assistant program.
After graduation, Surinder was immediately hired as a Care Aide, dealing with mental health patients at Britannia Lodge. She will be starting her orientation before the end of October, less than a month after she finished her program.
Surinder has come out of her shell and shows inspiring self-confidence today.
