Rental Supplement – Provides up to $500/month towards rent, paid directly to landlords.

Mortgage Deferrals – Mortgage payment deferrals are available for CMHC-insured loans. Contact your bank about non-insured loans.

Emergency Housing – Existing shelters still active and additional emergency options may be available.

Canada Student Service Grant (CSSG) – For Sprott Shaw students and recent graduates. Develop new skills and connect with your community, all while giving back in a meaningful way. Earn a grant from $1,000 to $5,000.

Canada Emergency Student Benefit (CESB) – Provides relief for eligible students for a maximum of 16 weeks.

Employment Insurance (EI) – Existing EI benefit continues to be available. Provides up to $573/week to people who have lost income.

Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) – Provides $2000/month to workers who loose income due to COVID-19, including contractors and self-employed people.

Income Tax – Filing due date is deferred to June 1. Payments owed are deferred until after August 31.

Student Loans – Six-month interest-free moratorium on repayment, starting April.

Budget Worksheet – Provided by Enriched Academy to help you plan your monthly budget more effectively.

ICBC – Monthly payment deferral for up to 90 days with no penalty.

BC Hydro – Bill deferral and payment plans available.

FortisBC – Billing, payments and other energy-related services.

Student Support Program

Sprott Shaw College’s Student Support Program (My SSP) is free to use and offers online resources and access to Student Support Advisors that can help you succeed while you juggle your study and personal life. 

You can call or chat with a Student Support Advisor at any time (24/7) and can receive immediate support via chat or call, or schedule a telephone/video appointment. Support is free and is available in multiple languages!

Access support from anywhere, anytime by:

  • Downloading the free ‘My SSP’ app from your device’s app store (available on Apple and Android devices) to call or chat with an advisor (no appointment needed)
  • Dialling 1.855.649.8641 to speak to an advisor over the phone or to book an appointment for a later date
  • Visiting the website www.mystudentsupport.com to access additional resources and materials
