I was a stay at home mother and volunteer.
Why did you choose Sprott Shaw College?
I felt like Sprott Shaw offered the most support for employment and refresher support for course content.
How was the admissions process?
Super easy.
What program did you choose and why?
HCA – I was previously a hospital volunteer and really loved my work and wanted to start a career in health care. The course hours worked well for me as a parent.
What was the environment like during your time at Sprott Shaw College?
Very comfortable, patient, supportive and fun. My instructors were amazing and passionate about providing holistic individualized care and creating a healthy work environment.
Where was your practicum or co-op and how was it?
My clinical was in a long term care facility. My instructors were incredibly supportive and strong advocates and role models.
How long did it take you to find a job after graduation?
Within days of sending out my resume I had found work.
Can you explain your duties?
I was hired as a casual at the hospital which was my goal.
If you could give advice to someone coming to Sprott Shaw, what would you say?
Trust the process. There is a lot to learn but you will get there. Always speak to your instructors if you need support as that is what they are there for and they are happy to help.
Is there anything else you would like to share?
I would love to continue on into the practical nursing program and would choose Sprott Shaw College for that.
