Naweed Aini, Electrical Foundations

Sprott Shaw Graduate Naweed Aini

Why did you choose Sprott Shaw College?

I chose Sprott Shaw because when I saw how the program was portrayed, it seemed like a nice learning environment to be in. I was proven right!

What program did you choose and why?

I took the Electrical Foundations Program as my first step forward to a promising future. I chose that program because I was always interested in electrical all the way back to high school!

What was the environment like during your time at Sprott Shaw College?

It was great, I met so many friendly people! The teachers were amazing and helped me understand some things that I didn’t quite get at first. They were flexible and generous enough to offer assistance after school hours, which I was grateful for.

Where was your practicum or co-op and how was it?

My practicum was with a company that is based out of Port Moody. It was awesome! I couldn’t have asked for a better crew for my first time on the job. They were very patient, considerate, and taught me the basics very well at a smooth pace.

How long did it take you to find a job after graduation?

Three entire days! The company I was doing my practicum with reached out to me with a job offer.

Where do you work? Can you explain your duties?

Right now I am doing work at 3438 Sawmill Crescent, Vancouver. I am working on finishings, which consist of installing plugs, switches, lights, smoke alarms, buzzers and more!

If you could give advice to someone coming to Sprott Shaw, what would you say?

Study hard and ask questions. Never let something you don’t understand go because, before you know it, the test will arrive and you will have no idea what to do when that one question comes.
