REYSIE RELOX, RESIDENT CARE AIDE

How was your Sprott Shaw experience?

As I look back, I remember the first day I stepped into Sprott Shaw College New Westminster campus and did not know what tomorrow would bring and wondered if I was doing the right thing. I remember how Ursula made me feel so welcome and hopeful for my future and couldn’t be more thankful for her. She made it so easy with her passion for helping everyone. (Teary-eyed me now while writing this). Everyone on the campus, including the instructors, advisors, and receptionist was eager to help each of us.

Thank you for helping students like me reach our goal and God Bless in all you do.

Do you feel studying at Sprott Shaw has improved your employability?

I am thankful to Sprott Shaw College for helping me change my career. This program opens a lot of opportunities for me. I am also working with other related healthcare jobs as a support worker for residence and community settings in the Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion and Inclusion Langley Society.

The training and skills I learned helped me to thrive in this career and I couldn’t be prouder and happier about what I have become after finishing the program. I feel that my career now is stable and secure with jobs available everywhere that are just waiting for me.

Were you able to find employment post-graduation?

I just got hired as a Registered Care Aid for a casual position at Langley Lodge long-term care facility and my starting wage is $28.74.
