Interior Design with Co-op

The Interior Design with Co-op Program provides a strong knowledge and skills foundation that enables graduates to enter this diverse industry at an entry-level.

This intensive program teaches students the fundamentals of core subjects, including design, materials and documentation, through a combination of theory, hands-on learning and work experience.

Interior Design involves the artistry of interior design with the technical aspects of architecture. The student will learn about integrating existing structures as well as new builds. As well as learning software key to this industry, and digital drawing, students will also be taught freehand artistry.

This is a growing field and offers career opportunities in companies concerned with architecture, interior design, set design, exhibition, staging and construction. This program also includes a professional work experience placement and the production of a professional portfolio.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be able to demonstrate:

  • Awareness of the nature and value of integrated design practices, familiarity with specific data and information, terminology and language to communicate effectively with allied disciplines and technical collaboration methods
  • Understanding the design and documentation process, critical thinking and solutions in relation to the building systems and cost disciplines, from creativity to reality
  • Ability to develop and master the necessary skills in freehand and digital drawings, visual presentation techniques and communication skills that are the essential tools needed
