Admission Requirements:
  • Grade 12 / GED or mature student status
  • Applicants must successfully complete the admissions interview and may be required to do an entrance assessment

Note: English level assessment will be required for international students.

Prerequisites:
  • One year of clerical experience or graduation from a recognized clerical program (letter from employer or certificate/diploma)
  • Good working knowledge of computers would be highly recommended
Certificate Requirements:
  • 60% average upon successful completion of all courses, including courses given a complete
  • Qualifies for second diploma when done as an add-on to another program
* Business Administration Principles Accelerated Program was reviewed and approved by the registrar of the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills & Training.

Students can expect to complete one to three hours of homework per day.

This 17 week Certificate program requires the student to complete the following courses.

  • Utilize most modules of Sage to record business transactions (order entry, inventory, AP, AR and payroll)
  • Produce reports including financial statements

  • MS Office Certification
  • Enter and maintain a database (filter, sort, create queries)

  • Analysis of job descriptions
  • Recruitment, orientation and training
  • Regulation and legislation

  • Strategic workplace management
  • Ethics, planning, job design, organization structure

  • Effective problem solving and decision making
  • Leadership and managerial roles and skills

  • Defining negotiation
  • Conflict diagnosis-systems approach
  • Developing negotiation strategies

  • Introduction to the legal system in Canada with a focus on how it affects business operations
  • Structure of the Canadian Legal System
  • Legislation governing consumer transactions
  • Case study approach

  • Differentiate between projects and operating activities
  • Develop project budgets
  • Identify and schedule project resources
  • Describe alternate project management techniques
