Oscar H – Business
Originally from Tijuana, Mexico, I moved to Kelowna in 2015. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Certification in Finance, Master’s in Business Administration, and I am completing a Certification in Accounting. My background includes manufacturing, retail, IT, aerospace, medical devices, and government relations. I love teaching and sharing my knowledge in my classes and making learning fun and interactive.
Danielle W – Community Support Worker – Social Services (CSWSS) & Special Education Teaching Assistant (SETA)
I graduated from Nova Scotia with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I have worked with children, youth, and adults in various community and mental health settings. While I’ve enjoyed all of my experiences, I am most passionate about behavioural intervention and modification with children with exceptionalities including autism, ADHD, FASD, Down syndrome, and cognitive delays. I’ve been an instructor at Sprott Shaw since 2017.
Carla H – Early Childhood Education (ECE)
My education consists of a degree in Early Childhood Education and a certificate in Business Administration. I was the former president of the ECEBC Professional Association and have over 34 years of experience as an Early Childhood Educator in Manitoba and BC. My passion for this career continues to grow as it allows me to embrace my passion for ethics, while honouring my philosophy of creating teachable moments.
Ashley B – Health Care Assistant (HCA)
Since graduating from the Practical Nursing program in 2006, I have worked in a variety of healthcare settings including acute, residential, and geriatric rehabilitation. At Sprott Shaw, I have been involved in the Practical Nursing and Health Care Assistant program, both in clinical and classroom roles.
Niki H – Health Care Assistant (HCA) & Practical Nursing (PN)
In 2012, I became a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and found my calling during my first year in geriatrics. I have extensive experience in long-term, complex, dementia, and palliative care. I am also a proud Sprott Shaw Practical Nursing graduate and couldn’t be happier to give back to the industry.
Sherri B – Paralegal & Legal Administrator
I began my paralegal career in the late 1980s and have served as a judicial paralegal with BC’s highest court, court clerk with the Provincial Court, and court administrator for the Victim’s Services Branch. I have also assisted several lawyers in the private sector and most recently, served on a mission trip with the International Justice Mission in Bolivia. Of all the positions I’ve held in the past 30 years, instructing at Sprott Shaw has been the most rewarding.
Sonia N – Practical Nursing (PN)
I began my career as a health care assistant and bridged into nursing when I graduated as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in 1999. I’ve worked in acute care and geriatric/palliative care. My mission is to teach students to be the type of nurse who holds the intention of making a difference in someone’s life and to see people holistically.
Wendy G – Veterinary Assistant (VA)
I earned my qualifications Animal Health Technology in 1989 in Alberta. I have over 20 years of clinical experience in small animal veterinary practices and human medicine laboratories. Although I am new to teaching in the Veterinary Assistant program, I believe that you are always an educator to clients with their beloved pets.
Kelsey W – Practical Nursing (PN) Pre-requisite Biology
I completed my bachelor’s degree in Biology in 2005. I worked in the chemistry field for a few years before becoming a Biology instructor at Sprott Shaw in 2012. I have a passion for sharing knowledge and enjoy creating fun and engaging environments for my students.
