Executive Office Administrator Accelerated Program

The Executive Office Administrator Accelerated Certificate program has been developed to equip graduates with the skills to meet the needs of today’s business world.

This accelerated program requires a minimum of one year of clerical experience or graduation from a recognized clerical program (letter from employer or certificate/diploma).

The Executive Office Administrator Certificate program has been developed to meet the needs of today’s companies focusing on MS Office, Sage 50 (Simply) Accounting, and Document Efficiencies, communication, and training in the areas of digital marketing (including social media), human resources, and travel/event planning.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • Manage various digital marketing channels such as social media
  • Type correspondence and reports
  • Prepare presentation materials, compile data and research
  • Perform accounting activities and analyze financial statements
  • Attend meetings and take minutes
  • Productively use MS Office including Word, Excel and Access
  • Communicate effectively using various communication channels

Admission Requirements:
  • Grade 12 / GED or mature student status (all transcripts must be true certified copies or originals).
  • Applicants must successfully complete the admissions interview and entrance assessments with a minimum score of 20/40 in the English Assessment and a minimum score of 20/40 in the Math Assessment (with a minimum composite score of 42/80).
  • One year of clerical experience (letter from an employer) OR graduation from a recognized clerical program (certificate / diploma).

Domestic Students:

  • Domestic students that can provide a Canadian transcript showing completion of English 11 or 12 (or equivalent) with a passing grade of ‘C’, will be exempt from having to write the English Entrance Assessment.
  • Domestic students that can provide a Canadian transcript showing completion of Math 10, 11 or 12 (or equivalent) with a passing grade of ‘C’, will be exempt from having to write the Math Entrance Assessment.

International Students:

  • International students that can provide a Canadian transcript showing completion of Math 10, 11 or 12 (or equivalent) with a passing grade of ‘C’ will be exempt from having to write the Math Entrance Assessment. The equivalent credential must be evaluated and verified.
  • International students that can provide a Canadian transcript showing completion of English 11 or 12 (or equivalent) with a passing grade of ‘C’ will be exempt from having to write the English Entrance Assessment. The equivalent credential must be evaluated and verified.
  • International students can also meet the English requirement by demonstrating one of the following three options:
  • Sprott Shaw’s English Language Assessment, OR
  • Minimum IELTS Score 5.5 overall or iBT TOFEL Score of 70, OR
  • Completion of an ESL program from one of SSC’s partnered ESL schools.
Certificate Requirements:
  • 60% average upon successful completion of all courses, including courses given a complete.

Students can expect to complete 1 – 3 hours of homework per day.

* Executive Office Administrator Accelerated Program was reviewed and approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) of the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

This 16 week Certificate program requires the student to complete the following courses.

  • Utilize most modules of Sage to record business transactions (order entry, inventory, AP, AR and payroll)
  • Produce reports including financial statements

  • MS Office Certification
  • Enter and maintain a database (filter, sort, create queries)

  • Management of office information (mail, appointments, telephones, meetings, business machines, bank statements)

  • MS Word, electronic files, business documents
  • Develop speed and accuracy

  • Identify an event's purpose and its objectives
  • Identify event critical path planning
  • Arrange travel plans

  • Analysis of job descriptions
  • Recruitment, orientation and training
  • Regulation and legislation

  • Learning how to choose the right social media platforms and how best to utilize the features offered by those platforms

  • Use blogging effectively as a marketing tool
  • Understand how display advertising fits into marketing strategies
  • Review techniques to enhance social media marketing to maximize exposure
