Meet Our Abbotsford Instructors

Sarah R – Special Education Teaching Assistant (SETA)

While I have worked in the inclusion field since the late 1990’s, my focus shifted to inclusive education just over a decade ago when I became an education assistant at a local school district. I was also part of a Behaviour Intervention team which has always been a passion of mine and allowed me to build my education in applied behavioural analysis. I am continuing my education with my Master’s in Clinical Counselling Psychology.

Gail P – Early Childhood Education (ECE)

After over 35 years, I am still very passionate about the field of Early Childhood Education (ECE). I have been fortunate enough to have spent the last 10 years sharing that passion with ECE students at Sprott Shaw. Prior to teaching, I owned and operated two large learning facilities and advocated at various levels for ECEs, children, and families.

Louie T – Practical Nursing (PN)

In 2016, I started teaching in the Practical Nursing program at Sprott Shaw. I enjoy helping students become nurses who make differences in people’s lives. I have also worked in healthcare since 2014 at various care homes. My qualifications include: Graduate Nurse International Education 2012, BSN 2007, and RCA 2003

Debra H – Health Care Assistant (HCA)

As a two-time former mature student from Sprott Shaw, I am proof of the kind of inspiration that dedicated instructors can inspire. I bring with me over 12 years of experience in the healthcare industry. As a Health Care Assistant (HCA) instructor, my mandate is to ensure compassionate, dignified, and respectful care to vulnerable residents in the community.

Christine W – Practical Nursing (PN)

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Australia and have over 20 years of healthcare teaching experience. I am a Registered Psychiatric Nurse and have worked in outpost nursing as far north as Nunavut. I have also spent many years as the Director of Care and Executive Director at various complex care facilities.

Sapphre O – Practical Nursing (PN)

I am a graduate of Sprott Shaw and have 13 years of experience as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). I have 5 years of experience working at Ridge Meadows Hospital in acute care, subacute, and hospice. In addition to this, I also have 7 years of experience working in pediatric home care in the Fraser Valley.

John M – Business

For over 45 years, I have been a teacher and mentor to students during my military career and time with Sprott Shaw. I am a recipient of “The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal” and have been part-owner of a small business, financial officer of a non-profit, and registrar of a national association. I was also an early adaptor of computers, word processing, spreadsheets, accounting programs, and website development.

Sam A – Business

After gaining my Bachelor of Arts , I completed a Masters of Arts in Newfoundland. I have been in the adult education field for the past 4 years, working primarily as an instructor with Sprott Shaw. In addition to teaching courses in business, I have spent the past 19 years working in human resources and currently run my own consulting firm.

Kristina O – Medical Office Administrator (MOA)

After graduating from Sprott Shaw in 2004 with an Honours Diploma in Medical Office Administrator (MOA) / Pharmacy, I have gained over a decade of experience in the MOA and pharmacy fields. I am also a certified Medical Transcriptionist. In 2013, I joined Sprott Shaw as an instructor and curriculum writer.
