Meet Our New Westminster Instructors
Don G – Health Care Assistant (HCA)
As a licensed practical nurse (LPN), I have more than 15 years of experience in the healthcare field outside of Canada. In 2011, I began teaching at Sprott Shaw’s downtown campus in the Practical Nursing program. Since earning my Provincial Instructor Diploma (PID), I became a Health Care Assistant (HCA) instructor at the New Westminster campus and an HCA practicum placement coordinator for the Lower Mainland.
Fariba C – Practical Nursing (PN)
In Iran, I was a doctor of medicine where I worked in the health education department of a medical university, teaching medical students in clinics and overseeing the production of medical papers. After moving to Canada, I earned my Health Care Assistant (HCA) Diploma from Sprott Shaw. With over 6 years of teaching experience, I now focus on Anatomy & Physiology, personal care skills in the HCA program, and Biology Upgrading courses.
Sunny P – Business
I am able to draw on over 25 years of industry experience in various management positions and over 9 years of teaching experience in most business subjects. As a teacher and curriculum writer, I consider myself to be a life-long student, continuously researching on learning and teaching strategies. I have a university degree in engineering and 6 post-secondary qualifications in business management subjects that include marketing, computers, and foreign trade.
Danielle P – Early Childhood Education (ECE)
I have over 20 years of experience in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) field and received my Early Childhood Education Diploma that includes infant, toddler, and special needs. Teaching since 2014, I eventually moved to Sprott Shaw’s New Westminster campus in 2017, where I became the lead ECE Instructor and Practicum Facilitator.
Rekha N – Early Childhood Education (ECE)
After attending boarding schools in India and Zimbabwe, I moved to Canada in 1988 where I was able to fulfil my dream of attending college. After completing my Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Associate Arts degree, I went on to earn my Master’s in Leadership and Human Development. In 2006, I went to Italy to train at the Reggio Emilia Early Learn Centers and received hands-on training from Lella Gandini.
Les C – Special Education Teaching Assistant (SETA)
I have over 10 years of teaching experience working with diverse groups of adults and children who require support. Some of this includes working as an instructor in the life-skills program for the Down Syndrome Resource Foundation and as an education assistant for the Burnaby School Board. I have also written curriculum for special needs students related to drama, cooking, critical thinking, money math, budgeting, and sexual health education.
Barbara L – Business
I have over 20 years of experience teaching in various private colleges and continuing education programs, specializing in teaching and writing business and computer courses. I am also engaged in the use of e-learning authoring software to enhance the student experience.
Patricia C – Practical Nursing
I have been working as a nurse in various setting from home care, community, long term care, acute care and medical/ surgical. I started working at Sprott Shaw in 2019 and am excited to teach and share my knowledge with learners. In October 2019, I completed my Instructor Development Program and continue to work on professional development to enhance my work with the students.
Wendy G – Practical Nursing (PN)
I gained my qualification as a Registered Nurse in New Zealand. In Canada, I worked at Vancouver General Hospital for more than 20 years in a variety of acute care settings and worked for over 18 years at BC Cancer Agency, Vancouver Clinic. During this time I became a certified Oncology Nurse with the Canadian Nurses Association administering Chemotherapy, Brachytherapy and worked in the Autologous Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.
