Sprott Shaw’s Vancouver college campus provides hand-on, quality training in numerous high-growth employment areas. Our experienced instructors are professionals in their industry that strive to go the extra mile for their students. For over 10 years, Sprott Shaw College in Vancouver has worked closely with the community through food drives for the local food bank and fundraisers for the Aids Society. Whether you are looking to start your career in Practical Nursing or as a Community Support Worker, our college in Vancouver is the place to be. 

Located just outside of Downtown Vancouver, our Vancouver college campus is a short 4-minute walk from the Main Street-Science World SkyTrain Station, offering students a convenient way of transiting to and from the campus. Thanks to the convenience of the Skytrain system, our college attracts students throughout Vancouver, Burnaby, North & West Vancouver, and even Squamish! 

Many of the courses at our Vancouver college campus use our innovative G2 online learning system. This easy-to-access tool provides students with a technologically advanced learning environment beyond the typical textbook model.

In the field of nursing and healthcare, our Vancouver location offers our full suite of programs. Train to become a practical nurse, pharmacy assistant, health unit clerk, and more with our experienced instructors. 

If you are interested in working in social services, the Community Support Worker program is a popular choice for anyone looking to give back to their community. If you love working with kids, our Education Assistant programs are also a great option. Graduates of this program will be able to work in a variety of schools and educational facilities.

Meet Our East Vancouver Instructors

Chelsea C – Special Education Teaching Assistant (SETA)

With over 17 years as an education assistant at the Surrey School District and over 5 years teaching adults in various capacities regarding special needs children, I continue to advocate for the community and special needs learners (SNL). I have my Bachelor’s in Psychology and Master’s in Education (Adult Education). I also hold my Special Education Teaching Assistant (SETA) / Applied Behavioural Analysis Support Worker (ABA SW) Certification.

Jin L – Pharmacy Assistant (PHA) & Practical Nursing (PN)

I have been working at Sprott Shaw College for just over 3 years as a licensed Pharmacist from Korea with many years of experience in both hospital pharmacy and community pharmacy. I have my Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and my Diploma as a Pharmacy Technician.

Rosemary C – Medical Office Administrator (MOA) & Health Unit Clerk (HUC)

I have 18 years of teaching experience in medical office assisting and medical administration and earned my Provincial Instructors Diploma (PID). I also have several years of experience in large clinical management and medical office management. I am a member of the Medical Office Assistance Association and a past president of the White Rock chapter.

Kelly H – Practical Nursing (PN)

I graduated from Sprott Shaw in 2016 and have gained experience by working in a variety of health care settings such as community, long term care facilities, assisted living facilities and acute care. I am currently practicing as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) at the Vancouver General Hospital.

Mio O – Health Care Assistant (HCA) & Practical Nursing (PN)

I have been in the nursing field as a licensed practical nurse for over 22 years. Throughout those years, I have worked in a variety of residential and acute care setting which provided me with the knowledge and experience to effectively mentor our future health care workers. I joined Sprott Shaw College in 2006 and am currently the primary clinical instructor for the Health Care Assistant (HCA) program.

Swarn D – Community Support Worker – Social Services (CSWSS)

I have over 4 years of teaching experience in the Community Support Worker Diploma Program. I have earned my degree and have had experience within the social work field for the past 10 years.  Currently, I am furthering my education by working towards my Master’s in Counselling.

Levon M – Practical Nursing (PN)

After graduating from a practical nursing program in 2003, I completed my preceptorship at the Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH), where I was hired and worked at for 10 years in the Medical, Surgical, and Emergency departments.  In 2014 I started with Sprott Shaw as a Practical Nursing Instructor in the classroom and clinical settings. Since then, I have had the opportunity to instruct the Health Care Assistant Program and be the Practical Nursing Coordinator.

Hayley S – Practical Nursing (PN)

After graduating from a practical nursing program in 2003, I completed my preceptorship at the Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH), where I was hired and worked at for 10 years in the Medical, Surgical, and Emergency departments.  In 2014 I started with Sprott Shaw as a Practical Nursing Instructor in the classroom and clinical settings. Lanaea G – Practical Nursing (PN)

I am originally from Fort St. John and have been living Vancouver for the last 3 years. My journey to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN) started in Nanaimo. Since then, I have worked at the Richmond Hospital on the Medical Surgical unit and I am also the communications secretary for the BC Nurses Union. I am passionate about nursing and passing on my care knowledge to future nurses.

Agerico O – Design

With over 39 years of experience in planning and architectural design, I have brought my knowledge and program expertise to guide and train students for over 20 years. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in architecture and have been part of multiple affiliations such as the American institute of Architects, Society of Interior Designers and United Architects of the Philippines.

Rostina R – Design 

I have over 38 years of experience in architectural design and 26 years of experience teaching interior design in both Canada and Singapore. I have my Master’s in Design as well as my Diploma in Interior and Architectural Design.
